Our favorite Parisians over at Ed Banger Records have some new material for us. There’s a promo copy of a special compilation of unreleased tracks from artists on the label.
Included on there is a new one from SebastiAn titled Threnody, which proves to be quite a shocker on the record. True fans of SebastiAn’s music may be excited to hear that the track is eleven minutes long. I know I was…. until I listened to it. To tell the truth I feel strangely ambivalent about it. The reason being, there is a TEN MINUTE crescendo buildup of noise before the actual music begins. It’s not until the 11:20 that the track takes a turn and becomes a filthy, glitchy, distored, heavy-beat-driven banger that we’d expect from SebastiAn. Unfortunately, this only lasts about a minute and a half before you realize it’s over.
I don’t know what to think of it. All I can say is that it makes sense that they put Threnody on their “unreleased” compilation rather than on a real cataloged EP. Don’t just take my word for it. Give it a listen:
- Telecharger MP3: SebastiAn - Threnody
- Telecharger MP3: SebastiAn - Threnody (two minutes crop edit) (this version cuts the crap and gets to the last two minutes)
My fingers are crossed for some proper remixes to soon appear in the blogosphere…
