The good people over at Data Transmission recently had a chat with DJ Falcon. Falcon debuted his “My Name is DJ Falcon” on Roule Records–the independent frech house record label founded by Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk. In the mid 1990s, Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel De Homem Christoph, collectively known as Daft Punk, concentrated some efforts on starting their own record labels for independent releases. Guy-Man’s disco-centric Crydamoure Records, and Thomas’ Roule records produced a handful of releases before going dormant. It should be emphasized, though, that the word for the current status of the label is dormant rather than dead. Falcon assured Data Transmission that Roule records indeed is still around and the Roule crew may have a few surprises in store within the next couple years.
“Roulé is not officially over” [Falcon] revealed to us. “It’s not finished. Crydmoure, yeah, but Roulé is still on…there’s nothing really playing on it, but it’s not over. So maybe one day…because Thomas and Roulé was all about surprising people…so you never know what to expect from Thomas, which is good. But officially, Roulé is still on.
The last time we spoke to DJ Falcon while he was booked for a gig in Los Angeles, he mentioned that he was scheduld for some studio time in Paris for recording new material, and assured us that he’d been working on an album. There was no mention though as to whether it’d be released under the Roule heading. However, this new information revealed may suggest that this may indeed be a possibility. We have our fingers crossed…

We’re back from the Detroit Bar where we caught DJ Falcon last night.
Here are the photos from last night’s DJ Falcon gig in Orange County. Click any of the photos above to see the gallery, or visit our flickr for high res shots.. Taken May 16th, 2009 in Costa Mesa, CA.
I got a chance to speak to DJ Falcon and asked about what his plans are. He says he’s moved his recording studio, and plans to return to Paris to produce some new material very soon…. Can’t wait… If you haven’t heard his original material, look up his Roule 308 release (which is under the record label founded by Daft Punk’s own Thomas Bangalter…)
In other news, we now have a facebook fan page and will update that with the photos we take. Join up and tag yourselves.

DJ Falcon played a set at LAX to mark the second anniversary of Banana Split Sundaes. Some big names were in the crowd as well.
This concludes our really really really long weekend. If i hear a house beat again, I will croak.
Click it to see the gallery.

Just announced: [actually... it's not even announced yet]
This Sunday night WILL be epic. I have no doubt. It’s a Roulé Records reunion at LAX, as DJ Falcon will be headlining this week’s Banana Split Sundae. DJ Falcon is the label mate of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, who released solo material on Thomas’ Roulé Records in the late 1990s. Roulé Records has a true cult following, particularly from die hard fans of Daft Punk. Enough of the history lesson; if you want to know more about these guys, look it up on discogs or wikipedia.
We are really stoked for this event. It’s going to be a sure-shot attempt at suicide for us [as well as a few others who will be spending the weekend going back and forth from LA to Vegas and back] to get to this event, but this is one of those MUST-GO events.
One more thing: if you look at the flier it says “and a super special banging guest…” Considering the festivities in town this weekend, who can this be? When there’s smoke, there’s fire. It’s going be off the hook.
Again… DJ Fucking Falcon. Be there……………………. rsvp
