Even though Coachella sold out early this year, there’s still a reason to head out to the desert this weekend. The parties, once a supplement to the Coachella experience, have now become a comparable (if not better) alternative to the festival. This year over a dozen parties have been announced in the desert, many of which are free and have special performances from artists with time slots at the festival. As we did last year, here’s a list we’ve compiled of Coachella 2011 parties. Here we go:

That’s right. Filter’s once again gearing up to the 9th annual kick-off party on Thursday, 4/15 where everyone who’s anyone will gather to toast the festival days to come. This year, they’ve teamed up with T-Mobile, Jansport and a few other sponsors to bring you a three day event.

Mist Poolside at Aqua Caliente
Ongoing Friday, Saturday and Sunday — April 16th, 17th and 18th

There’s no Music Loves Fashion this year. Instead immerse yourself pool party sounds and performances by DJs and live bands all weekend long at the Mist Poolside.

The Mist Poolside Lounge event will be a full throttle, fun, entertaining 3-day weekend featuring national DJ’s including Scotty Boy, EC Twins, Vice, Donald Glaude, Anthony Attalla, Scooter & Lavelle, Charles Feelgood and many others with live performances from Afrobeta, Speaker Junkies and Rico De Largo.

I remember the Bloody Beetroots were on the lineup last year at the BPM 12 year anniversary party (photos here) at the Avalon. This year surely will not disappoint. (Unfortunately we won’t be able to make it to this one since we’re touring Spain.) However, we’ll be back on time for the debut of Discotheque. From the good people who brought you Hardfest and Control at the Avalon, Discotheque is a new weekly friday night 21+ gig in downtown LA. Catch the likes of Don Rimini, Classixx, Destructo and others on the night of the 31st. Big bangin‘ surpises are in store for the following weeks but I wouldn’t want to spoil it quite yet.

Spread Passion for Music Through Photography
My brother and I are native Angelenos, born and raised in the section of the 818 known as Burbank. But living in Los Angeles has always had one disadvantage – we’ve constantly been bombarded by the nukes launched by the military base known as mainstream Hollywood.
The pop culture of Los Angeles, though “entertaining” to the oblivious, forced us to seek out music that may not be as familiar to others. We shed the mainstream scene like dead skin and stepped into the underground … scene that is.
Our epiphany: Seeing the robotic electronic duo known as Daft Punk at Coachella 2006. The crowd at Coachella mostly consisted of rock music fans like us. But after the show, we emerged with a new brand of music stuck in our ears – and we didn’t want to get it out.
That was quite a life-changing experience, as most people who saw the spectacle would probably agree with. We left the show with new birthmarks on us that continue to demonstrate our newfound love for electronic music. But also the sheer magnitude of the presentation of the show has since left an ever-radiating impact on the music scene in Los Angeles that still continues to ripple and draw in new fans.
With a new musical environment all around us, we decided to become a part of the movement and capture as many moments as we can on camera. That new desire eventually grew to us wanting to share those moments on our Web site, ClubSoda.fm.
Since launching our Web site last June, we’ve made it our mission to go to the best electronic shows in and around Los Angeles and share our experiences with others who feel the same about the scene. But although photography is our new passion, we will always first be fans of music.

We are ClubSoda and we are officially live. The blog will now be updated regularly, while we work on ironing out the kinks of the website. Just hold on and check back here for updates.
Expect a rush of content within the next few weeks!
