We got a chance to speak to Zombie Nation Halloween night.
He was scheduled to perform at the massive Hard Haunted Mansion event in Los Angeles. We had a couple questions lined up which the curious Zombie Nation fan would find interesting, especially questions about his side project tag-team with Tiga known as ZZT. ZZT has brought us such tracks Lower State of Consciousness (which Justice has remixed), as well as the hugely popular The Worm.
One big mystery has always been history behind the ZZT name. As disappointing as it may sound, there’s no funky story behind it. ZZT is simply a combination of the first letters Z of Zombie Nation and T of Tiga. The extra Z is simply there because it sounds good, and doesn’t really stand for anything…. but we still dig the name.
Second, we asked about upcoming tracks. Tiga has been pushing for a ZZT LP sometime in the near future for the Turbo label. In the meantime though, they’ve still been working on new tracks. As a matter of fact, they have two tracks which were nearly completed last week. Around the time that this is published, Zombie Nation and Tiga should be in Montreal mastering the two new ZZT tracks.
Zombie Nation dropped the new tracks this Halloween night. The tracks are not yet completed, but the general gist of it can be seen in the video. Click it below.

Straight out of Ireland, producers Arveene and Misk are releasing their new track called “Hells Bells”. This dark piece of production is one hell of a track.
We had a chance to interview the guys behind it all.
CS: We’re wondering who/what are some of your influences?
A&M: We’ve got such a wide range of influences from 70′s disco to 80′s & Early 90′s Hip Hop… Mike Pickering in his Hacienda days, Erol Alkan since he started Thrash to Andy Weatherall before he was a DJ… To be honest we listen to almost all types of music.. and draw influence from quality as opposed to genre… We also love Sci Fi….
CS: Do you guys have plans on making a major release soon (new singles, an LP)?
A&M: We’re working on new material all the time and have loads in the pipe line but that’s all we can say really… Loads of remix work coming… DJ Wool & Subtitle, Baby Monster, Hystero and Magnus, plus one other really big act that I can’t tell you about….
CS: How and when you guys started producing/DJing?
A&M: A few years ago i was working with Drum & Bass producer Beta 2.. he put me in touch with Misk and the rest is history really.. I’ve been a Dj for years since i was 11 and Misk has been making tracks for over 10 years… We love what we do….
CS: I noticed you are very close with the Ed Bangers (especially after the Pourriture EP). How did you meet the crew?
A&M: I played with Pedro, Mehdi & Xavier a few times and just became friends.. I have a lot of respect for those guys.. they Kill it every time for me.. Always fun to hear them play and real cool guys.. they love music… big up.
CS: Do you have any tours coming up in the US?
A&M: No plans as of yet but there’s been some interest. We’d love to come and tour the US for sure.. Come get us promoters.

The french house duo Cassius is back with their new EP “Youth Speed Trouble Cigarettes”.
The release is the first on their own CASSIUS record label and is assigned the catalog id of CASS001. A quote from Cassius about the track:
A shout to all kids of earth and ravers at heart, the people for whom dancing late, living fast, getting into trouble and chain smoking is as important as sleeping and checking mails. It contains “Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes.” a fresh track we did last month and our first cover to date “Almost Cut My Hair” from the fantastic David Crosby, one of the best song ever but done our way. Here’s the first Cassius Record!! We hope you’ll enjoy it as we do! We can’t wait to give you the follow up but until then happy listening, dancing or whatever….. -Zdar & Boombass
This is the main track of the release that bears the same title as the EP. It’s a pretty fun track. Check it out.
Duck Sauce reminds me of that tangy red hoisin sauce they give you at Chinese restaurants. I can’t exactly tell you where the inspiration for the name of the the new A-Trak and Armand Van Helden collaboration project came from, but i can tell you that their first release is quality.
The Fool’s Gold blog describes the sound of the track as crafted in the “spirit of their favorite disco house tunes, keeping the good vibes intact while adding that 2009 club knock.” Find the release on A-Trak’s own Fool’s Gold Label (link to Discogs).
Zombie Nation, a bigtime German techno producer, released his new album called “Zombielicious”. Dropped by major producers like Soulwax and Boys Noize, the track called “Forza” was a hit. Many people recall that amazing night where the mysterious house music robot Thomas Bangalter spun at Cinespace on April 21, 2009. On that same night, Ed Banger’s manager Busy P dropped the new SebastiAn track, set to release on his upcoming album. I had asked Busy P about the track at Coachella Festival, and he said that the track is still untitled. Stay tuned for updates. For now, here’s the youtube clip of the track.
