Here are some photos from this year’s HARD Summer Festival, also known as the safest place in LA on the night of August 7th. The vibe was very different from what we experienced last year. Big ups to the good people over at HARD for making it happen.
If you haven’t heard yet, HARD Haunted Mansion 2010 has been announced and the line up is massive. Don’t take my word for it…. you be the judge. Tickets here.
We’re back. We’ve been in and out of town all summer long, but we’re back for the most part (and pumped to be better than ever). These photos have been on flickr for a while, but here’s the site post in case you’ve missed them. Here are out photos from this years Electric Daisy Carnival. Big thanks to Insomniac Events!

The photos are up from this year’s coverage of the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
Thanks to Ahmar aka VFN (KSCR Radio) for taking photos for ClubSoda in Miami last week. The View From Nowhere is a weekly show on KSCR-AM, an independent terrestrial and online radio station located on the campus of USC. VFN airs live Tuesday nights from 10PM to Midnight.
One week of the year, music lovers from all over the world descend upon Miami for the largest music industry gathering of its kind in the world, the Winter Music Conference. Whether you’ve just sat down for some authentic Cuban cuisine or find yourself enjoying a nice cohiba poolside, it’s nearly impossible to avoid the infectious sound that is the house beat. Big thanks to Paradax Records, Beatport, RVNG Intl, The Opium Group, X-MiX Productions and countless others that make Miami as legendary as its reputation has earned.

Our favorite french zombie DJ-producer Kavinsky is back with new original material. Produced by Guy-Manuel of Daft Punk, Nightcall EP is going to be released on Air’s Record Makers label on March 15th. The track features the classic Kavinsky-synth feel and is reminiscent of the sound from Sebastian Tellier’s recent Sexuality album–also produced by Guy-Man. Tracklist consists of four tracks including Nightcall, Pacific Coast Highway, and two remixes of the title track.
From the label’s website: The zombie is striking back ! After months of studio work on his forthcoming album, he & Record Makers have decided to release ‘Nightcall’ as an apéritif. ‘Nightcall’ is the first song Kavinsky provides vocals for, a duet you might say, featuring the zombie and his girlfriend, a.k.a. Lovefoxxx from CSS!
The song was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and mixed by SebastiAN. The remix of this song, by a mysterious Dustin Nguyen, is an outstanding pop song that everyone can enjoy.
On the other side, Kavinsky has produced the fantastic ‘Pacific Coast Highway’, in which we follow a ghostcar on the highway. The remix job is by French avant-garde producer Jackson. His epic 9 minute long version is unmissable. ’Nightcall’ is composed of 4 tracks, representing the sensual, epic and romantic French sound like never before.
We’ve got a low bitrate myspace rip of it for the listening curiosity.
Kavinsky’s not the only one with new material. Off the Ed Banger label, new signee Breakbot makes his release debut on the label with the fresh Baby I’m Yours EP. I gave it a listen and I definitely dig it.
Synthetic Sound describes it: Baby I’m Yours is Breakbot’s long-awaited debut EP on Ed Banger Records. In one word, Breakbot’s music could best be described as smooth. Combining disco and electo, the French musician crafts funky beats with retro vocal hooks. Without a doubt, Breakbot fits in perfectly with the rest of the Ed Banger crew, but he sure hasn’t lost his originality or characteristic sound. The EP features two singles: “Baby I’m Yours” with vocals by Irfane and “Make You Mine.” Also included are two fantastic remixes by Siriusmo and LaFunkMob.

Also announced today was the confirmation of yet another year of the Music Loves Fashion weekend which will take place at the same time as Coachella. We’ll have more information for you when it’s available.
Here’s the teaser video of the Music Loves Fashion 2010 event at the Riviera.
Dim Mak Tuedays last tuesday was host to a special Christmas party. With Dan Oh and Them Jeans on the decks, the closure of the big room didn’t keep anyone from having a great time. I had a great time and somehow ended up home at 7AM……
In more downer news, my camera’s focus engine died that night, and it’s in the shop being repaired. In the meantime, being Christmas and all, please pray for its speedy recovery. A third of the shots came out blurry; here are a few of the rest:
