Posted on 19 January 2010 by shaunt

This morning the line-up of the was made public for this year’ Coachella Music and Arts Festival—the epic three-day-long music event which takes place in southern California. Coachella rivals such festivals as the Glatonbury Festival in England and Lollapalooza in Chicago.  Here’s a slightly tweaked version of the official flyer. I’ve rearranged the artists by relevance.

Photos from Dim Mak X-Mas Party

Posted on 27 December 2009 by shaunt

Dim Mak Tuedays last tuesday was host to a special Christmas party. With Dan Oh and Them Jeans on the decks, the closure of the big room didn’t keep anyone from having a great time. I had a great time and somehow ended up home at 7AM……
In more downer news, my camera’s focus engine died that night, and it’s in the shop being repaired. In the meantime, being Christmas and all, please pray for its speedy recovery. A third of the shots came out blurry; here are a few of the rest:

Photos from Be the D.A.N.C.E.

Posted on 27 December 2009 by shaunt

About a month ago, we checked out Be the D.A.N.C.E. exhibit. On display were 70 Justice D.A.N.C.E.-inspired t-shirts hand-painted by Simone Wicks [hmm.. that's a lot of hyphens]. If you haven’t seen them yet, the designs are awesome. She’s planning on selling these shirts, so if you’re interested we’ll have details for you soon.

Photos from Rusko at Control

Posted on 24 November 2009 by shaunt

Last Friday, we were at the biggest Control yet. I’ve never seen a line for the Avalon as long as the one for Rusko. I’ve heard that the house packed about 4000 people that night! On top of things, we even had trouble getting in, but once it was settled, we walked into one of the most intense gigs ever. The energy in the room was absolutely ridiculous. I suppose dubstep music is really getting big (…or rather IS already). Photos are up.

Taken November 20th, 2009 at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Thanks to Armen Perian for snapping a few of the shots…

Photos from Vice 15th Anniversary Party and Kia Soul Collective Tour

Posted on 09 November 2009 by shaunt

Friday night, we started out the evening at Siren Studios in Hollywood where Diplo played a special early evening DJ set. Sponsored by Kia Motors, this was the second night of the double-header event at the venue. Unlike the choas that was the Crystal Castles show the previous night, the show on Friday began sober, but by 9PM the energy ultimately built up to levels surpassing expectations. Thanks to the Kia people for putting on these two gigs. Hopefully we’ll see more of it in the months ahead.
Following the Kia Soul Collective event, we drove a couple blocks over to the LA Ukrainian Center where Vice Magazine was hosting their 15th Anniversary party, sponsored by Hornitos Tequila. Reflective of my Junior High gymnasium, the choice of venue mimicked the 1994-esque cultural cliche theme perfectly. Though i have little recollection of this, the photos show that this event got wild by the end of the night.

Photos from Chromeo at Discotheque

Posted on 12 October 2009 by shaunt

Chromeo was in town last Friday to play a bit of their DJ Kicks material at Discotheque in downtown LA. Photos are up.

On a side note, I lost my fisheye attachment last night. If you’ve found it please let us know [...for karma points].

I don’t mind parting with it though. It was is horrible condition–all scratched up and shit. I just ordered a new Nikon FC-E8 attachment which should arrive by this Friday’s CONTROL where Mr. Oizo will be playing.

Here’s a little video review courtesy of Bryan over at YouTellConcerts:

Check out the rest of YouTellConcerts‘ review of the night.

Chromeo be back in LA for some NYE party somewhere. Details to follow.

tronlegacy

Sept 30: French electronica duo Daft Punk has been signed to write the original music score for Tron Legacy (commonly known as Tron 2.0), Walt Disney’s upcoming sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 animation cult hit which was scored by electronic music icon Wendy Carlos. Thomas and Guy-Manuel of Daft Punk have been involved in various films before, but Tron 2.0 will be their first complete feature film score. via Upcoming Film Scores

I’m excited to share for your listening pleasure a leak of the new Daft Punk track composed for the movie. Give it a listen.

Also, here’s an extended edit of the track by house music producer Cryda Luv.
