Posted on 28 January 2010 by shaunt

tronlegacy

Update: It appears this is another hoax, as a group called Pilot Priest have confirmed that it’s their track. Hopefully this bullshit should stop, and we’ll get our hands on some real Daft Punk material soon..

Last night we brought you what we thought was new Justice material. Well, tonight we got our hands on a track titled “The Crash” which appears to be from the soundtrack of the upcoming sequal to Tron, for which Daft Punk is putting together the soundtrack. Yet another one for the rumor mill, this track appears to be new production from Daft Punk (which has yet to be confirmed by french robot duo). For your listening curiosity, here it is:

[Fake] New Justice track “Beginning Of The End”

Posted on 27 January 2010 by shaunt

Justice Rex

Update:  According to official sources at Ed Banger Records, Beginning Of The End is a hoax. Along with other music sites/blogs, we received this track via email from a convincing-sounding address “promo@edbangerrecords.com”…  Oddly enough, this track sounds a lot like Justice… give it a listen below.

The French electro duo Justice are making a return with the release of their upcoming single, “Beginning Of The End.” This is the first original track they’ve produced and released since Planisphere, which was originally set to be a composition for the Dior Homme runway last year. Beginning Of The End begins with with the fanfare-like sound used in a few of their remixes (namely, the remix of Klaxons’ As Above So Below), and then switches gears and delivers a healthy dosage of electro beats climaxing to the sound of the signature distorted harpsichord synth first introduced in Planisphere.

Prior to listening, I was a bit skeptical of Justice’s return to production, as it had been quite a while since they’d put something out. Their debut album  is a tough one to follow; anything following would be judged by extremely high standards. However, after a listen, it seems as though they’re on the right track, picking up from where Planisphere left off… Justice is back.. and I bet after listening to this track, I won’t be the only person to be certain of the duo’s epic return to production.

About a month ago, we checked out Be the D.A.N.C.E. exhibit. On display were 70 Justice D.A.N.C.E.-inspired t-shirts hand-painted by Simone Wicks [hmm.. that's a lot of hyphens]. If you haven’t seen them yet, the designs are awesome. She’s planning on selling these shirts, so if you’re interested we’ll have details for you soon.

A Minute with Zombie Nation

Posted on 05 November 2009 by admin

We got a chance to speak to Zombie Nation Halloween night.

zombie nation

He was scheduled to perform at the massive Hard Haunted Mansion event in Los Angeles. We had a couple questions lined up which the curious Zombie Nation fan would find interesting, especially questions about his side project tag-team with Tiga known as ZZT. ZZT has brought us such tracks Lower State of Consciousness (which Justice has remixed), as well as the hugely popular The Worm.

levon & zombie nation

One big mystery has always been history behind the ZZT name. As disappointing as it may sound, there’s no funky story behind it. ZZT is simply a combination of the first letters Z of Zombie Nation and T of Tiga. The extra Z is simply there because it sounds good, and doesn’t really stand for anything…. but we still dig the name.

Second, we asked about upcoming tracks. Tiga has been pushing for a ZZT LP sometime in the near future for the Turbo label. In the meantime though, they’ve still been working on new tracks. As a matter of fact, they have two tracks which were nearly completed last week. Around the time that this is published, Zombie Nation and Tiga should be in Montreal mastering the two new ZZT tracks.

Zombie Nation dropped the new tracks this Halloween night. The tracks are not yet completed, but the general gist of it can be seen in the video. Click it below.

Back from Hard Summer Festival…

Posted on 09 August 2009 by shaunt

And we’re back from Hard Summer Festival. Yes, at this exact moment Tiga should technically be finishing his set. But that is not the case.

First of all, let me start with a quick (…very quick) review of the evening:
The highlight performance of the night had to have been Busy P’s kick-off set on the main stage. Even he was shocked at how huge of a turnout he had at 8PM. Crystal Castles followed with an.. uh… interesting set laced with a touch of intentional audio feedback and static. That’s when it got crazy. Douchebag raver kids started jumping off the second level into the pit. Even after countless warnings this shit continued until the fire marshall decided to boot everyone out. It wasn’t official until the special tactics unit of the LAPD made an appearance. What an evening it was indeed.

Honestly though, i have to hand it to the HARD people for putting on such a [potentially] epic event. The production and lighting (especially downstairs in the underground) was absolutely stunning. It’s so unfortunate these kids did what they did at the expense of the crowd at large. Oh well. Shit happens… Either way, we will have our photos up (at least the ones we managed to snag in the short period of time) probably tomorrow. HARD Summer photos are now up HERE.

A clip from Busy P’s blog:
I  am so sorry for what happened last night at HARD in L.A Don’t really know what went wrong, but all i know is that the amazing crowd was ready to party, so do i. I feel lucky to have been the only DJ to perform that night, i ended up my set with Beastie Boys “Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” just before Crystal Castles short live show, what a weird sign! The rest of the line up was insane, Tiga, A-Trak, Chromeo, Crookes… were all ready to rumble too.
Let’s hope L.A will get another massive event like this soon.

Don’t be discouraged. I suppose it’s not a good time to bring it up right now, but stay tuned for info about HARD Haunted Mansion as it will not disappoint. The party will go on.

A message from the good people at HARD:
We are terribly sorry. LAFD and Inglewood PD made the decision to shut down the event tonight. There are many questions to answer; rest assured you will be receiving your refunds. Please check back soon for more details. The show must go on…
