The photos are up from Brand X Coachella Pre Party at Barracuda on Melrose. We ran into Busy P and many other familiar faces, sipped on some margaritas, and got into the Coachella spirit. See you all in the desert. Until then, enjoy the photos.
(update 4/12 by shaunt) That was the pre-party. The after-party has been announced:
The photos are up from this year’s coverage of the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
Thanks to Ahmar aka VFN (KSCR Radio) for taking photos for ClubSoda in Miami last week. The View From Nowhere is a weekly show on KSCR-AM, an independent terrestrial and online radio station located on the campus of USC. VFN airs live Tuesday nights from 10PM to Midnight.
One week of the year, music lovers from all over the world descend upon Miami for the largest music industry gathering of its kind in the world, the Winter Music Conference. Whether you’ve just sat down for some authentic Cuban cuisine or find yourself enjoying a nice cohiba poolside, it’s nearly impossible to avoid the infectious sound that is the house beat. Big thanks to Paradax Records, Beatport, RVNG Intl, The Opium Group, X-MiX Productions and countless others that make Miami as legendary as its reputation has earned.
The Coachella experience is not complete without checking out the other parties happening in the desert. There are pre-parties, after-parties, and even parties happening during Coachella, of which some are better than the festival itself…. (yes, really.) We’ve compiled a list for you. Here we go:

We’re switching properties once again, and while we can’t tell you where we’ll be shacking up for the weekend of April 17, we can give you two keywords you’ll keep hearing for the next two weeks: LA GOON. The good people over at Data Transmission recently had a chat with DJ Falcon. Falcon debuted his “My Name is DJ Falcon” on Roule Records–the independent frech house record label founded by Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk. In the mid 1990s, Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel De Homem Christoph, collectively known as Daft Punk, concentrated some efforts on starting their own record labels for independent releases. Guy-Man’s disco-centric Crydamoure Records, and Thomas’ Roule records produced a handful of releases before going dormant. It should be emphasized, though, that the word for the current status of the label is dormant rather than dead. Falcon assured Data Transmission that Roule records indeed is still around and the Roule crew may have a few surprises in store within the next couple years.
“Roulé is not officially over” [Falcon] revealed to us. “It’s not finished. Crydmoure, yeah, but Roulé is still on…there’s nothing really playing on it, but it’s not over. So maybe one day…because Thomas and Roulé was all about surprising people…so you never know what to expect from Thomas, which is good. But officially, Roulé is still on.
The last time we spoke to DJ Falcon while he was booked for a gig in Los Angeles, he mentioned that he was scheduld for some studio time in Paris for recording new material, and assured us that he’d been working on an album. There was no mention though as to whether it’d be released under the Roule heading. However, this new information revealed may suggest that this may indeed be a possibility. We have our fingers crossed…
Here’s a new entertaining short video clip by Mr. Oizo featuring Flat Beat and Pharrell Williams.
In the November 2009 issue of MixMag, Justice stated that they will be producing the soundtrack to Mr. Oizo’s latest film Rubber, before they begin working on their new album. On March 6, Mr. Oizo announced the recording of his upcoming album called 2010. We will have more information on the album later, so stay tuned.
